Cable Crossover

Intermediate

Bilateral cable movement where both arms cross over each other in front of the body. Maximizes chest contraction at the end of the range.

Cable Crossover
1
Start Pose
Cables set at high position (above shoulders)
Stand centered between the stacks
Arms extended wide and up, slight elbow bend
One foot forward for balance
2
Finish Pose
Sweep arms downward and inward in a wide arc
Hands cross over each other at waist level
Squeeze chest hard at the crossover point
Training Cues
✓The key is the crossover — let the hands pass each other for maximum contraction
✓Lean slightly forward to emphasize the lower chest
✓Control the return to the full stretch position
Watch For This
✕
Not crossing the hands over each other — that defeats the purpose
✕
Using momentum to swing the weight
✕
Bending the elbows too much during the movement

Pro Tip

Alternate which hand crosses over each rep to prevent asymmetry. The crossover point is where the pecs are most shortened — hold for a split second.
