Diagonal Cable Front Raise

Beginner

Cable front raise performed on a diagonal path — from the opposite hip to the opposite shoulder. The diagonal pattern increases anterior deltoid activation through a fuller range.

Diagonal Cable Front Raise
1
Start Pose
Stand sideways to a low cable stack
Grip the handle with the hand farthest from the stack
Arm extended down and across the body
2
Finish Pose
Raise the handle diagonally up and across
Finish at shoulder height or slightly above
Control the return to the starting position
Training Cues
✓The diagonal path engages the anterior deltoid through a longer range
✓Keep the arm relatively straight — this is a raise, not a curl
✓Control the eccentric slowly
Watch For This
✕
Using momentum to swing the weight up
✕
Bending the elbow excessively — turns it into a curl
✕
Rotating the torso during the raise

Pro Tip

The diagonal cable front raise is excellent for targeting the anterior deltoid from a different angle than a standard straight-front raise. Use it for balanced shoulder development.
